Depakote Lawsuits Are Now Pending

Tommy Fibich is currently in trial against Abbott Laboratories, Inc. in federal court in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Fibich is lead trial counsel in the drug product liability case which alleges that Abbott’s drug Depakote was ingested during pregnancy and ultimately caused severe birth defects to the child.* This is the first Depakote birth defect case to go to trial, and there are approximately 850 Depakote cases pending across the country.

Abbott Laboratories has previously pleaded guilty and agreed to pay $1.5 billion to resolve its criminal and civil liability arising from the company’s unlawful promotion of Depakote for uses not approved as safe and effective by the Food and Drug Administration, according to the U.S. Justice Department.**

Our legal experience matters!

Our lawyers and professionals are keenly aware of the issues concerning difficult pharmaceutical cases such as these Depakote lawsuits. With decades of experience, Fibich, Leebron, Copeland & Briggs knows how to stand up to drug manufacturers who put profits before safety.

Our team has the experience as well as the resources available to take on such a big fight for your family. Legal proceedings can't change what happened to children damaged by a drug such as Depakote. But working together with families, our team of lawyers hopes to change the kind of corporate decision making that routinely sacrifices safety in favor of profits.

Uses of Depakote

Depakote is a prescription drug that has been used to control symptoms of seizures, severe migraines, and manic episodes of bipolar disorders. While the drug may be effective for these conditions, if pregnant women have taken the drug during pregnancy (especially the first trimester), birth defects can be a risk to the unborn child.

Your family may be entitled to compensation if the child was born with birth defects and the mother took Depakote during pregnancy. Birth defects potentially caused by Depakote can cause severe physical, financial, and emotional difficulties for the child and the family. There may be long-term therapies required or life-sustaining treatments that can be very expensive.
