September 27, 2012 - Attorney Erin Copeland, of Fibich, Leebron, Copeland & Briggs in Houston, Texas, was one of several plaintiffs' attorneys appointed by Federal Chief Judge David R. Herndon of the Southern District of Illinois to the Plaintiff's Leadership Counsel in the Pradaxa multi-district products liability litigation. Attorney Erin Copeland is specifically appointed to the Pradaxa Plaintiffs' Steering Committee (PSC) responsible for guiding the litigation process on behalf of the plaintiffs in the Pradaxa Multi-District Litigation (MDL).

Attorney Erin Copeland and the Pradaxa Plaintiffs' Leadership Counsel will be responsible for all aspects of the discovery, hearings and meetings, motion practice and representations in court for federal Pradaxa plaintiffs. With more than 12 years of experience, Attorney Erin Copeland has represented plaintiffs from all over the nation in both complex multi-district litigation as well as single personal injury and product liability cases. She is currently serving on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee for the transvaginal mesh MDLs pending in West Virginia. She is also part of the plaintiffs' attorney leadership for specially assigned transvaginal mesh cases pending in Massachusetts state court.

All pretrial discoveries on behalf of Pradaxa plaintiffs will be initiated, coordinated and conducted by the Pradaxa Plaintiff's Leadership Counsel. Attorney Erin Copeland and the Pradaxa PSC will issue discovery requests in the name of all Pradaxa plaintiffs, prepare motions and subpoenas pertaining to any witnesses and documents, and conduct the examination of witnesses in the Pradaxa litigation. The Pradaxa Plaintiff 's Leadership Counsel, including Attorney Erin Copeland, will advocate for all federal Pradaxa plaintiffs during proceedings in front of Judge Herndon and will submit and argue verbal or written motions on behalf of the federal Pradaxa plaintiffs.

What is Pradaxa?

Pradaxa is a blood thinner that is used to prevent clots. It is used by individuals with a certain type of heart rhythm and keeps the platelets from coagulating to reduce the possibility of a stroke. Also known by the generic name dabigatran, this medication can make it much easier for individuals to bleed, even after suffering minor, insignificant injuries.

Pradaxa side effects can be serious, and include:
