W. Michael Leebron, II

About W. Michael Leebron, II

Mike Leebron was one of the state's great trial lawyers until his death on July 6, 2013. Mike attended college at Oklahoma University and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Army where he attained the rank of 1 st lieutenant during the Vietnam War. He then attended Baylor University and upon graduation in 1971 embarked on an illustrious career representing clients for 43 years.

Mike grew up in Elk City, Oklahoma where his father, Dr. William Michael Leebron, practiced medicine following his captivity as a prisoner of war during WWII. Dr. Leebron chose western Oklahoma so he could help provide medical care to the many uninsured Native Americans on the reservations in that area of the state.

There is no doubt that this example guided Mike in his life as he often would represent clients for no charge. If you were Mike's client, you had a friend and counselor for life. Mike saw only the best in every person he met and was an avid encourager to all that crossed his path. He lifted spirits and laughter just by entering the room.

Mike Leebron was a bird hunter, fisherman, had a 200 ton Marine Captains license, raced dirt bike motorcycles, arm wrestled competitively for several years, exercised prodigiously yet knew the gentle side of life. He majored in English and lived full well the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson:

" To find the best in others; to give of one's self; to leave the world a bit better, Whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exaltation;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived
….this is to have succeeded"
